Speaking of course of the new Netflix original movie.
Really enjoyed the movie. I felt they left enough ambiguousness in their ethos, for magic, and history and such, for the viewer to take what they liked from it. Always a delicate line to tread. But it felt like a contemporary, instead of future sci-fi, version of the Shadowrun gameworld. With a fine partner cops on the run for their lives basic storyline.
Hope everyone's Christmas went fabulous for them.

Recent Activities!
Hope everyone has had a good start to their spring. While I may not have been posting too much here, that doesn't mean I get to sit on my duff all day. Well, not sit on it and do nothing anyway.... If any of you are in the comic book way, which is likely at least a few, you can see where some of my efforts have been going in the may issue of Previews. Pages 298 and 301 have some adds for the team at Brilliant Ent. who've been having me do some work. They've been fun projects and a general good time to work on. Not my usual sci-fi slant of stuff, but doing some work on a Doc Savage/ Hellboy monster fighting sailor type fellow named Kent Menace and a couple other fun stories in their quarterly anthology. If you've the chance, please do give it a look. As i get more information/links to post I'll be sure to share. :)
Newskins for the New Year?
So, I've had a pretty good time re-drawing designs for the battletech game that I'd done at maybe less than 100% on the fist go around. I've had a folder with a lot of them sitting in there like sad little puppies waiting to be made into a new coat. "Happy" to say, that pretty much takes care of all the one's that initially came into my head. Starting way back with the color redraws of the pack hunter and arctic wolf, and ending just shortly ago with the Corvis. There are still more, I'm sure of it. Some have slipped the first regurgitation on account of them maybe not being 100% my design folly, not unlike the Corvis. But, if you've got a suspect in mind that deserves a serious redressing after i boned it once before, by all means post and let me know. These make for excellent warm-up and cool-down affairs, and scratch a particular itch that almost all artists are familiar with. Plus, I'm sure some of you will get some enjoyment from them too ;) Since I'm likely to forget,
Likely to post less here....
OK, so there's obviously been a LOT of pushback over DA's admitted f'd up actions, so i don't need to put more logs on the fire around that effigy. But, since it's happened once, and is likely to happen again I'm very likely to post less copies of commissioned artwork here. i value people having me do work for them, and their rights to that work. I don't need or intend to put that in any kind of jeopardy. So, you're likely to see less pictures in my commissions gallery at the very least. But, I am still foolish enough to post things i do for myself or for side projects, or other miscellaneous things. Speaking of which, my page here did recently pass a milestone marker and I'm likely working on something to celebrate it ;)
Halo, Pretty much as expected...
So, i got the chance to watch the first episode of the new Halo series on streaming. I won't lie, my knowledge and experience doesn't really go much past the first 2-3 games and most of the designs+gear. Seeing how well some recent series have done with the "armored/obscured main guy" I thought they might have a chance.... ---took his helmet off in the first episode. ugh.... ---inconsistent universe rules. Dude shoots covenant troopers with minigun...nothing....MC shoots same dudes with it, from the hip, they die instantly. If you want to have them be bad a$$, then justify it. Which they do at times! But then they have scenes working directly against those :/ ---Any possible ambiguity about whether the UN was "bad" is cleared up immediately. I just watched an alien stormtrooper heat vaporize some kids tripping on space mushrooms, but I'm pretty sure the UN comes off as somehow the "worse" of the two. Congrats, you've got a nice SFX updated version of the Stallone Judge Dread

I enjoyed it pretty well, though it felt a little too... "in a vacuum"... some of those details, IMO would have been nice, and I think it would have been better as one of the 8 episode type series, to really build a little more depth. For what it was, it was a good watch (though the Elves look like they straight borrowed the Castithan makeup and design department from Defiance..which isn't all bad as it definitely creates a more alien beauty to the elves than most versions have).
My only complaint is any real comparisons to Shadow Run. Shadow Run is a combo of two things... Return of Magic Fantasy meets Cyberpunk. You can't have the one without the other. I feel this would be just as easily compared to LotR or D&D in contemporary times (Return of the Dark Lord, Sauron, anyone?) as any real Shadow Run comparos.
Go in looking for Shadow Run, and court disappointment. Go in looking for an interesting show/premise? You might be pleased.
Just my 2ct.
